Colorado Trip - Days 3&4

Last two days have been a blast. Took a super scary drive on a one lane dirt road up 12,500 feet. Stayed in a "haunted" hotel in estes (Lins and I looked for ghosts but they didn't want to come out and play). Met a bartender named Lucky from Transilvania. Learned the difference between the Amish and Menonites. Met up with Linsey's friend Melissa in Denver. Toured the Coors brewery in Golden. Ate some sushi...played some phase ten. Road some class 4 rapids. Quite eventful I must say! Headed home tomorrow. All good things must come to an end.

Colorado Adventures - Day 1

Today was quite eventful. After spending 45 minutes stuck in traffic on the interstate in Omaha, Linsey and I were more than ready to get outta dodge. Road trips are a blast. Even though there's not much to look at in western Nebraska, we found lots of ways to entertain ourselves. Audiobooks = greatest invention ever! We're currently in estes park at the River Spruce cabins. Loves it! Very vintage/70s feel. Wood panel walls, yellow countertops, mini stove top. Best of all, just about 15 feet from river. Agenda... dinner (grilled chicken and baked cheesy potatoes), fire pit and a bottle of wine. Awesome!

Officially chucked.

Teagan turns 10 in a couple of days. What better way to celebrate then a pool party! I'm proud to report she received her very first pair of chucks from me! She loved them.

I'm a Big Kid Now

The Bowman's finally decided to bite the bullet and get a Mac!! While helping them set things up, we had a little fun with Photo Booth.

Pick me. Pick me.

Last December at a staff Christmas party we were all given a raffle ticket, much like the admit one ticket. Each one had it's own unique number. I remember sitting at my table, clinching the ticket with both hands, ready to bolt up as soon as my number was read. I was convinced that this was my time, especially after not winning ANYTHING the last two years. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a sore loser but the prizes....uh...they were good, real good. $50 gift card to starbucks, $100 to AMC theaters, gift baskets, massages, restaurant gift cards, and on and on and on.

As each raffle ticket was read "54319..... (gasp, and hold your breath here) ...02" UGH (huge sigh here). Nothing. "5431905". Nothing. "5431907". Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Each time the let down was worse. Why can't I win anything? It's not fair! So and so, doesn't REALLY need that gift card, she'll never use it anyway.

It's funny to look back on that and realize how ridiculous I was behaving. Have you ever felt like that? Maybe it wasn't necessarily something you wanted to win, but you can identify with the feeling of disappointment right?

Still praying.

Tuesday morning my aunt Barb was hit head on, then t-boned by an SUV on 180th & Center. She and the kids were on their way to Target and Walmart to get some last minute shopping done before Christmas.

The passenger of the other vehicle was killed and the driver (Stacy Fleener) is in critical condition at UNMC. Please continue to pray for Stacy and her family. I can't imagine what they are going through.

It's been hard trying to stomach the accident, seeing tears streaming down Annie's face, thinking about the "what ifs," etc. But we are fortunate to still have them with us. And that's what I'm most thankful for this Christmas.

Love you Peg, Barb, Annie & Ryan.
